Washington, DC — The Institute of International Container Lessors (IICL) has released electronic versions of its publications for sale at the IICL Online Store. The electronic publications could very well provide inspectors with the convenience and virtual use of the IICL manuals for users that do not want to carry hardcopies of the manuals all the time between office and field activities. Of course, the IICL will continue to sell the hard copies as well.
The digital manuals will allow customers to purchase individual licenses for as many devices as needed (computer, smart phone, and tablet) for which users will have unlimited access to the manuals. Each license will be assigned to one user per device, printing, screen capture, copy and paste is not allowed and there is no expiration date for the electronic publications on the device where licenses are installed.
IICL Marketing Director, Eliseo Mena said “For the past several years the IICL has received requests and inquiries worldwide regarding the sale of electronic publications. Now, with the availability of IICL digital files users will have instant access to the files from a mobile device while conducting inspection and repair work in the field; be able to easily search within the document and have the capability to access manuals when needed to clarify specific topics whether out in the field or in the office; as well as save money on freight costs compared to traditional hard copy book shipping charges”.
To download the digital files users will need to have an internet connection the first time to install a LockLizard viewer and activate a license on the device they wish to view the files. After the first installation users will be able to access the files with or without an internet connection. Files are also searchable and have links from the index to the chapters. The electronic files are copyright protected. After extensive research and trials, we chose the Locklizard application to secure and manage the digital files. As previously mentioned, we will also continue to sell hard copy publications for customers that do not have the option or don’t prefer e-manuals.
