Washington, DC — Robert F. Sappio, Chief Executive Officer, SeaCube Container Leasing Ltd has been elected to a second consecutive year as Chairman of the IICL for 2021. The IICL’s Board also elected William J. Shea Jr., Chief Executive Officer, Direct ChassisLink Inc., as IICL First Vice President; Brian M. The past Chairman, Marco Poggio, the Chief Executive Officer of TOUAX Container Leasing, also agreed continue to work with the IICL Executive Committee for another year.
“After a very dynamic 2020, the new year ahead will also be challenging and transitional. In addition to historic cargo volumes leading into 2021, during a global pandemic, the IICL will experience a change in leadership from 14-year veteran Steve Blust to Dennis Lombardi as the IICL President. All of us at IICL are grateful for Steve’s leadership during his tenure as president and welcome Dennis to the position. The Board determined that continuity in its Officers would be beneficial as we navigate the year ahead,” said Mr. Sappio.
Mr. Sappio joined SeaCube in 2014 as Chief Operating Officer and was promoted to his current position in June 2017. Prior to SeaCube, Mr. Sappio held positions as President of the Americas Region for Rickmers-Linie and Managing Director for Alvarez & Marsal. Prior to Alvarez & Marsal, Mr. Sappio spent nearly 30 years at APL, Ltd. serving most recently as Senior Vice President where he was responsible for all of APL’s commercial activities in the Trans Pacific, Trans-Atlantic and Latin American regions.
