3 April 2020

For the first time Spanish speaking persons will be able to take the IICL dry van container inspector examination in their native language. The IICL has created a Spanish version of its well-known container exam. Upon registration to take the exam candidates will be able to opt between the English and Spanish versions. The Spanish version follows the same approach of the traditional English version however it has two additional questions that require candidates to be familiar with the container component names also in English.

The development of the Spanish version is a result of requests received from various depots, inspectors and shipping personnel during the various face-to-face courses that have been promoted in Latin America and other USA locations during the past years.

The IICL Technical Director, Luiz Gonçalves mentioned that “Besides writing manuals and standards the IICL aims to motivate and promote education in our industry. The Spanish version of the IICL exam will open the door for many professionals that are not fluent in English to be recognized and enrich their curriculum vitae.  We will closely monitor the implementation of this exam version towards future expansion of language options.”

The IICL Marketing Director, Eliseo Mena added “We are pleased to offer this opportunity to candidates always wanted to obtain the IICL container certificate but feel more comfortable doing it in Spanish language”. We offer to candidates the opportunity to take the test in 5,500 locations in 2,807 cities around the world. Candidates can easily check the nearest test centers on our web site.”

Registrations for the IICL exams in Spanish are now open on the IICL web site www.iicl.org

To facilitate the registration process the IICL web site has a tutorial explaining how to have the registration pages translated to Spanish.

“The IICL believes that offering the IICL’s exam in Spanish, and potentially in other major languages in the future, will be of great assistance to men and women seeking to improve their container inspection and safety knowledge, validated by receipt of the IICL certification upon passing the exam”, stated IICL President, Steven Blust.

Candidates can register now and take advantage of the discount offered for early registration; the promotional fee is valid only until April 30th. Candidates will have to wait until the first week of May to schedule their classes. Exam scheduling is subject to the local situation related to the coronavirus.
