Washington, DC — The Institute of International Container Lessors (IICL) has released educational videos showing proper measurement techniques to assess damages on containers.
The “How to Measure” (HTM) short videos were created for dry van containers using 3D technology. They are available by component showing measurement techniques for the most frequent damages seen on containers. The project was carried out in partnership with Maritime TV and it is now available for viewers. The access to the videos is open to all. To better explain the new modules, an introductory video plays when viewers access the videos.
There are over 40 videos of approx. 30-50 seconds each, viewers have the capability to stop, rewind and watch the videos at their own pace. Video screen display text boxes and voice over explains the steps and tolerances.
The videos were created taking into consideration that equipment inspections take place around the world by inspectors speaking different languages and having different cultures. The 3D videos seek to bring proper information to container inspectors and uniformity on their assessment of damages.
Luiz Goncalves, IICL Director of Technical Services mentioned “In addition to setting tolerances and limitations, IICL inspection manuals also indicate proper techniques to be used during the inspection. Consistency in using proper measurement techniques is very important to ensure good inspection results. We have seen incorrect techniques being applied and decided to create these videos to assist on training and education.”
The HTM video is available for anyone to view in the IICL learning center at https://player.vimeo.com/video/906367121?autoplay=1
